Overview and Scrutiny Committee – 19th November

Take-home message from the Overview and Scrutiny Committee 19th November 2025-11-21

Conclusions:

  • Lambeth Landscapes should make Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) available to park groups and councillors
  • Park Improvement Levy (PIL) to be able to be carried forward to the following year and park groups to be consulted on spending.
  • Projects in the Capital Programme that are currently paused to be reviewed and other funding streams reconsidered. Priority to be given to those projects that had been agreed already.
  • The discussion on leases of park premises for community groups was inconclusive. The cabinet member, Cllr Anayanwu did not agree to any change that would advantage community groups.
  • Biodiversity issues in parks to be prioritised.
  • New sites in parks to be identified for biodiversity intitiatives
  • Parks should aim to be carbon neutral by 2030

Our suggestion that funding for parks should be increased as soon as possible fell on deaf ears.
