Volunteer marshals sought for the Five Parks Walk

Five Parks Walk logoBPCP seeks volunteer marshals to help with the annual Five Parks Walk fundraising event on Sunday 12th May. We would really appreciate some help with:

  • setting up and operating the start / finish point at Brockwell Hall, Brockwell Park from 9am
  • ‘stamping’ walkers booklets at the following locations: Belair Park, Sydenham Hill Woods, Dulwich Park and Ruskin Park at the following times: 11am to 1pm; and 1pm to 3pm. The eight mile guided walk starts from Brockwell Hall at 10.30am and finishes around 3.30pm.

If you would like to volunteer, please contact annkingsbury@yahoo.co.uk indicating which location you would prefer, which time slot and whether you’d like to bring a friend.

Many thanks for your support!

Finally! The Wildflower Slope is finished

On a lovely sunny Good Friday morning at 11am, we waited to see who would come and help us sow the wildflower seed over the entire length of the newly prepared lido slope.  To our delight 18 people of all ages arrived!  Most were properly attired to get muddy on the slope and everyone  helped with  sowing the seed and then carefully raking afterwards.

All got finished before 12am and so the last stage in a long process was complete.  Thanks to everyone who contributed, both today and over the past 18 months.

IMG_1045What you can currently see is a bare and muddy slope – but over the coming months it should be transformed into a riot of colour and texture.

If you want to be involved in further spring and summer projects – look out for the park posters or email: brockwellparkcommunitypartners@gmail.com

Free film event – volunteer marshals required

VolunteerWe are pleased to announce a full length evening screening of ‘Spirited Away’, by Japanese animators Studio Ghibli, as part of the Herne Hill Free Film Festival (HHFFF) 2013 Programme.

The screening is scheduled to take place on the evening of Saturday 18th May 2013 at the Park’s Performance Space. This is a ‘dark’ event, so Lambeth has stipulated that volunteer marshals are required to light – with torches – the paths that film goers will take by the Performance Space, Brockwell Hall and the path down to Herne Hill gate.

A high visibility jacket will be provided. The film is expected to finish around 11pm. If you would like to volunteer as a marshal for the film event, and have a torch, please contact the HHFFF co-ordinator, Charlotte Ashworth by email: charlotte@hernehill.org.uk
