Redundant building bordering Park to be demolished

003The 1960s house near the Arlingford Road gate is no longer fit for habitation. It was once the home of a Lambeth Parks staff member but he died some years ago. Since then it has been lived in unofficially but it is in very poor condition. A decision was made by the Parks department to demolish the building (with the hard standing to remain for the time being), clear all the rubble and return that section of land to the Park. This will make for a much more attractive view for people on the Tulse Hill Estate and also from the Children’s Play area and will create some additional space for the wildlife hedge, which was planted last year. There are fruit trees too, which were once part of the garden, which will also become part of the Park.

It is anticipated that the demolition work will be completed by mid May 2014.
