Live in Lambeth or Southwark? Made plans for the bank holiday weekend? Scrap them – because you can enjoy yourself for free in Brockwell Park on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May.
The fun starts at 1pm on Saturday 25th by Brockwell Hall with a Southwark Concert Band performance- a musical extravaganza which will offer young and old the chance to play a kazoo. The concert opens a celebration event of Brockwell Park’s £6M restoration, with speeches by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Lambeth Councillors and Brockwell Park Community Partners on the recent improvements to the Park’s heritage features, community facilities and sport and play areas. There will also be opportunities for you to find out about how to get involved in the MAD for Brockwell Park Programme and other park activities like biodiversity, gardening, sport, culture and more.
At 2pm, and again at 3.45pm, on Sunday 26th, FanSHEN Theatre performs ‘Green and Pleasant Land’ – an ecological show where kids ‘pedal to create the power’. Suitable for audiences aged 5 upwards, the show combines physical theatre, live music and ridiculous costumes in an epic adventure to find a happier, greener future. And they’ve even supplied a trailer:
All these events are free and we will be collecting voluntary donations to support next year’s Programme of community music, arts and drama events. Hope to see you there!
